Anthropic has launched Claude Tag, a new way for enterprise users to bring Claude directly into Slack conversations and assign real work inside team channels. The feature lets users tag @Claude in a Slack channel, where the AI can read the thread, break tasks into steps, and return updates in the same conversation.
As Anthropic stated in the announcement made on June 23, 2026, “We’re launching Claude Tag on Slack, since it’s a natural home for collaborative work between teams and AI, and where much of Anthropic’s day-to-day work already happens.”
Claude Tag is available now in beta for Claude Team and Claude Enterprise customers, with plans to expand to more platforms later.
What Does Claude Tag Do?
Claude Tag for Slack is designed to work more like a teammate than a chatbot. Once granted access, Claude can join selected Slack channels, connect to approved tools, data sources, and even codebases. The AI agent can then operate under its own identity. The assistant can build context over time by remembering relevant information from the channels it is in.
Such an approach allows users to avoid re-explaining the same background for every new request. The advancement is set to help teams delegate work while they focus on other tasks.
Key Advantages of @Claude You Should Know:
- Claude Tag is a multiplayer that boosts interactions and collaborations across teammates.
- It learns over time, fulfilling changing knowledge necessities while offering the best possible assistance.
- The AI agent can offer suggestions and keep you updated with information that you need to know.
- It allows you to focus on other tasks while executing activities that you have assigned to Claude Tag, alongside scheduling more tasks.
Admin Control and Access Limit of Claude Tag for Slack
Anthropic has prioritized control and governance while rolling out @Claude. The Support page of the company suggests that only a Primary Owner or Owner can set up the Claude Tag, choose the channels it can operate in, and connect with organizational tools or repositories.
The feature comes with major access limitations as well, with administrators having the authority to manage member access and limit where the agent operates. Alongside that, admins can also set organization-wide or per-channel spend caps while reviewing and deleting Claude’s memory and activity.
How to Get Started with Claude Tag?
Claude Tag is set to replace Claude in Slack, so administrators can choose to migrate manually within 30 days. If not done manually, automatic migration will take place by August 3, 2026. Notably, the channel-based version keeps Slack conversations separate from Claude chat history, and each platform maintains its own conversation records. Claude Enterprise or Team customers can now access the Claude Tag in the beta. For this purpose, you have to follow four simple steps-
- Connect Claude Tag with your Slack workspace.
- Allow tool access to Claude.
- Set your organization’s monthly spend limit.
- Test Claude on private channels to ensure its operation.
The introduction of the new AI agent reflects a larger shift in enterprise software, where AI tools are increasingly expected to do more than answer questions. Stay aligned with the latest tech breakthroughs and announcements with YourTechDiet!
