Google on May 7, 2026, introduced Fitbit Air, a simple, affordable, and ideal fitness tracker that serves as your wellness partner available 24/7. Fitbit Air is the smallest tracker that lets you stay notification-free and delivers health insights at your fingertips. With the new wearable, Google also revamped the Google Health app and expanded it across the Gemini-powered AI Health Coach.
It turns health data into personalized fitness plans and shares recommendations, recovery suggestions, and more without prompting. As stated in Google’s blog post, “The Fitbit Air sits silently on your wrist with a screenless design so you can live in the moment.”
You can also get deep insights from the Google Health App on your phone. The wearable is available on Android and iOS, priced at $99.99, and comes bundled with a three-month Google Health Premium trial. The Fitbit Air Special Edition wearable will be available for pre-order and in retail in the US from May 26.
Google is also releasing a special edition for Stephen Curry, priced at $129.99, alongside a redesigned performance band with athletic styling.
Fitbit Air Focuses on Passive Wellness Tracking
Despite its minimalist design, Fitbit Air includes top-notch health-tracking features, such as 24/7 heart rate, SpO2, resting heart rate, sleep stages and duration, irregular heart rhythm alerts linked to AFib detection, and more. One noteworthy point is that the Fitbit Air and Google Health apps make tracking activity easy.
It can track your common activities, start a workout from the app, and follow the coach’s recommended suggestions. With Google Health Coach, you can also take photos of your workout, cardio equipment, etc.
Say Hello to Google Health App and Google Health Coach Taking Center Stage
Google has confirmed that the previous Fitbit app will be moved into the Google Health app, which is the right place for your health and wellness data. The new app brings together data from the Fitbit app, wearables, Apple Health, Health Connect, or the Google Health API so you can have all your health data in one place. There are four tabs you can use to dive deeper: Today, Fitness, Sleep, and Health!
Alongside, the Google Health experience is boosted with Google Health Coach, powered by Gemini AI. The assistant provides personalized workout plans, nutrition guidance, and sleep insights by tracking user activity, meal photos, medical history, and more.
With these updates, it’s clear that Google is pushing its boundary in the health AI space by prioritizing users’ fitness journey.
