Google has launched Lyria 3 and Lyria 3 Pro as its newest music generation models. The company says both are now in public preview for developers worldwide. They are available through the Gemini API for public preview and for developers in Google AI Studio while providingĀ a new musicĀ experience. Google is also bringing Lyria 3 Pro into more products for creators and businesses.
AsĀ statedĀ by Google in theĀ announcementĀ made onĀ March 25, 2026, āOur newest music generation model is now available to developers in public preview.ā
Google splits the lineup into two versions:
Lyria 3 Pro:Ā It is the main model. It can generate tracks of up to about three minutes. Google says it is built for studio-style work and stronger song structure. It handles intros, verses, choruses, and bridges with more control.
Lyria 3 Clip:Ā It is the fasterĀ option. It generates 30-second clips. Google says it is meant for quick tests, background loops, and social media assets. That makes it useful when speed matters more than length.
What Makes Lyria 3 Different?
Google is also giving users more direct control over what the model creates.
Tempo conditioning:Ā In Lyria 3, prompts can guide the music’s tempo, helping set the track’s pace.
Time-aligned lyrics:Ā Users can also use time-aligned lyrics to control when lyrics begin and end in a song.
Image-to-music input:Ā Beyond text, the model supports image-to-music input, where an uploaded image can shape the mood, style, and atmosphere of the audio.
Google says this is part of a broader push to make music generation more precise and less random.
How to Use the Models in Google AI Studio?
Lyria 3 is available inside Google AI Studio through a dedicated music generation workspace that requires a paid API key. There are two main ways to create. In Text mode, users describe the song they want in natural language, including details such as tempo and key.
In Composer mode, they can build the track section by section, from intro to verses and bridges, with more granular control over timing and intensity. Google also points to demo apps in AI Studio, including background music for videos and an alarm clock experience.
