WhatsApp is reportedly developing new features for its Android app that will give users greater control over their calling experience. According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, the messaging platform is working on options that would allow users to mute their microphone before accepting voice calls and disable their camera before joining video calls.
Given that the new features were seen in WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.25.10.16, they might be added in a later release. Enhancing convenience and privacy for WhatsApp’s billions of users worldwide is the aim of these enhancements.
Enhanced Control for Video and Audio CallsÂ
A new “Turn off your video” option that shows up when a video call is received is the most noticeable feature. This eliminates the need for customers to quickly turn off their camera after taking a call by enabling voice-only mode. The app will confirm with an “Accept without video” popup if the user’s camera is already off.
WhatsApp is also working on a feature that would allow users to disable their microphone before answering calls. Those who are in noisy settings or in circumstances when speaking right away isn’t feasible may find this function especially helpful.
Real-time emoji reactions during video chats are another intriguing feature in development. Participants might then express their feelings without disturbing the speaker, such as laughter, praise, or approbation. Options like hearts, laughing emojis, and thumbs-up are anticipated to be included in the functionality, which would enhance group video chats while preserving the flow of speech.
These features have not yet been made publicly available and are still in the development stage. They will probably be made available to beta testers who have signed up for the Google Play Beta program before being made available to the public, according to WABetaInfo.
