To end the year on a good note, YouTube announced this Tuesday its first-ever YouTube recap, giving users a personalized year-end review of their video-watching activity.

The Recap feature is rolling out today in North America and will expand globally later this week. The YouTube Recap can be seen directly on the YouTube homepage or under the โ€œYouโ€ tab, accessible on both mobile and desktop.

Whatโ€™s Included in the YouTube Recap Feature?

YouTube Recap offers 12 personalized cards that mainly highlight top channels, watched topics, view trends, and total time spent on the platform.

Alongside this, one of the interesting points is that, based on your viewing habits, it assigns โ€œYouโ€ a personality type. It includes several categories, such as Adventurer (for users interested in building skills), Skill Builder (for content focused on building skills), Creative Spirit (for content that spreads positivity), and Wonder Seeker.

Amidst this, Connectors with Philosopher and Dreamer are rare ones.

For users listening to music on YouTube or YouTube Music, Recap offers additional cards, including Top Artists and Top Songs, and can dive deep into top genres, podcasts, and global music listening in the YouTube Music app.

How is the Impact of this Year-End Engagement?

Asย statedย by YouTube in itsย blog post, โ€œWith nine rounds of feedback and over 50 different concepts testing before we landed on what you see today!โ€ To go down memory lane, YouTube has used Google Gemini to analyze complex watch-history patterns and transform them into structured, shareable summaries.

With popular music streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music offering year-end recaps, YouTube is standing alongside them. As mentioned earlier, personalized cards can be shared via social media, giving creators more visibility during the holiday season. YouTube has launched the โ€œYouโ€ recap feature to help you look back at the most-watched videos.
