YouTube to Enforce Advanced Monetization Process Cutting Off Low-Value Content

NewsTechTrendsYouTube to Enforce Advanced Monetization Process Cutting Off Low-Value Content

The video streaming and sharing platform YouTube is set to revise its monetization standards from July 15, 2025, onwards. Repetitive, copied, inauthentic, and poorly produced videos are likely not to be monetized as per the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) Monetization policies.

YouTube Policy Updates highlights the monetization standard changes,ย โ€œYouTube has always required creators to upload โ€œoriginalโ€ and โ€œauthenticโ€ content. On July 15, 2025, YouTube is updating our guidelines to better identify mass-produced and repetitious content. This update better reflects what โ€œinauthenticโ€ content looks like today.โ€

YouTube will now identify and restrict โ€˜mass-produced and repetitive contentโ€™, considering it to be inauthentic and of low value. In case of non-compliance, channels may be removed from the YPP. Notably, there are over 110 million active YouTube channels across the globe, and a large number of them are making money by meeting the monetization standards.

However, videos that are poorly made and lack value are unlikely to generate monetization, even if they meet the required standards of views and subscribers.

Monetization Requirements of YouTube:

When requesting monetization on YouTube, creators are required to have 1,000 subscribers or 4,000 watch hours in the past 12 months, according to the previous monetization standards. Apart from that, creators need to have 10 million valid views on YouTube Shorts in the last 90 days.

From July 15 onwards, even if a creator meets the previously set requirements, they will not be automatically eligible for monetization. They must also go through YouTubeโ€™s authenticity assessment to get monetized on the platform.

Why is the YouTube Monetization Policy Revised?

With the new monetization regulations, the popular video-sharing platform is aiming to stop the misuse of the platform and offer enhanced opportunities to genuine creators. The initiative will be executed by cutting off clickbait, low-quality, copied, and inauthentic videos.

Monetization limitations may also be imposed on creators who produce similar videos again and again, excessivelyย or loosely edited, and AI-generated content. Furthermore, YouTube is also looking to become a platform with valuable content, not misleading videos or content that is created only for the sake of views. The new policy will not impact the reaction, commentary, and clips sharing channels.

Hence, no more earnings from now on for copying video ideas and content. Rather, creators can focus on producing valuable and purpose-driven videos to monetize their YouTube channels. Producing creative, engaging, and authentic videos with relevant visuals and audio can be helpful in this regard.
