Yahoo has introduced an AI-powered search engine, Yahoo Scout to make search experiences more effective and personalized. It is supported by Yahoo’s unique data, content, and user information, while being available in a beta version as of now. Users can access the search engine across Yahoo News, Mail, Sports, Finance, and others.
Notably, the introduction of the AI search engine is inspired by Yahoo’s 30 years of history in search and the changing dynamics of search. While operating and offering users appropriate responses, Yahoo Scout consolidates data from the open web, Yahoo data, and content.
The AI search engine is capable of generating responses in compelling formats, consisting of media, structured information, tables, lists, and sources. All these aspects contribute to the response generation with easily understandable information that is reliable, trustworthy, and leads users to solid decision-making.
According to the CEO of Yahoo, Jim Lanzone, “Search is fundamentally changing, and our team has been inspired to use our decades of experience and extremely rare assets to create something uniquely useful for Yahoo’s hundreds of millions of monthly users.”
Eric Feng, the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Yahoo Research Group, has stated, “Yahoo’s deep knowledge base, 30 years in the making, allows us to deliver guidance that our users can trust and easily understand, and will become even more personalized over the coming months.”
The Launch of Yahoo Scout Intelligence Platform:
Alongside the search engine, Yahoo has also unveiled the Yahoo Scout Intelligence Platform to enable AI capabilities in the entire ecosystem, including News, Mail, Finance, Sports, and others. This integration will offer advanced features for users across Yahoo services. For example, AI summaries in Yahoo Mail and key highlights in Yahoo News.
Additional features include Yahoo Shopping, Analysis by Yahoo Scout, More from Yahoo Scout, and Comment Summaries. Together, these features are going to offer an exceptional search experience to Yahoo’s broad user base.
Yahoo’s First AI Partnership:
The introduction of Scout also led to Yahoo’s first AI partnership. Yahoo has collaborated with AI leader Anthropic while choosing Clause as the foundational AI model for the AI-powered search engine. Yahoo chose Clause for its speed, clarity, security, and judgment, which will allow Scout to offer reliable and trustworthy responses to users.
Availability of Yahoo Scout:
Yahoo Scout is available in a beta version across Yahoo Search and the entire Yahoo ecosystem. It is rolling out for over 250 million Yahoo users in the USA and is accessible through desktop and mobile. Users can use the search engine directly on scout.yahoo.com, alongside the Yahoo Search app on Android or iOS.
