Amazon, the e-commerce giant, has officially rolled out Alexa+, its next-generation generative AI assistant. Alexa+ is a new and enhanced version of Alexa, standing out as being more conversational, personalized, and works best on your behalf.
The newly launched assistant is now available to all customers in the United States (US). Alongside this, it is free for Amazon Prime members, marking a significant upgrade to Amazon’s voice assistant ecosystem.
The Early Access Program for Alexa+ began a year ago, and the response was tremendous. As stated in the company’s announcement, “With an entirely new architecture powered by large language models from Amazon Nova, and Anthropic, Alexa+ is more powerful, and customers are using it in completely different ways.”
Unlike the previous versions, Alexa+ is not restricted to Echo devices. Users can access it through the Alexa app, Alexa-enabled devices, and Alexa.com, enhancing its accessibility across different platforms.
Pricing and Accessibility
Regarding access, Prime members get unlimited access to Alexa+ at no extra cost, whereas non-Prime users can access a limited, free chat version. For complete access, non-Prime users can subscribe to Alexa+ for $19.99/m, an ideal and worthwhile option starting this Wednesday.
In a recent interview, Daniel Rausch, VP of Alexa and Echo at Amazon, said, “We now have tens of millions of customers using Alexa+, and we’re expanding access to all Prime members.”

Customers benefit from the Alexa+ Agentic capabilities to get complex tasks done, such as booking restaurant reservations, scheduling home repairs, ordering takeout, planning travel itineraries, controlling smart home devices, shopping for missing ingredients, and more. It can also be easily integrated with services such as OpenTable, Uber, Yelp, and Ticketmaster.

- Amazon Prime members can start using it simply by saying, “Alexa, upgrade to Alexa+, or by signing in to their Amazon or Alexa.com account. They get access to the complete set of capabilities here.
- Customers without a Prime membership can use the free Alexa chat experience at Alexa.com.
