Microsoft makes OpenAI’s GPT-5.1 available in Copilot Studio, immediately after the release. OpenAI launched the GPT-5 series on 12 November 2025 in two versions, including GPT-5.1 Instant and GPT-5.1 Thinking. Following the announcement, Microsoft released a statement on integrating the same into the Copilot Studio.
GPT-5.1 in Copilot Studio is currently available for US customers only as an experimental model. Nevertheless, its early release cycle is available for the Power Platform environment. With GPT-5, Copilot will attain enhanced adaptability in chat and reasoning.
Microsoft has highlighted how the experimental models will allow users to test advanced capabilities before their full rollout. Hence, users can evaluate how the experimental models are performing and look forward to complete deployment. The tech giant has further suggested using the models in non-production scenarios until the evaluation process is fulfilled.
While making collaborations and reasoning more effective through model experiments, Microsoft has ensured the sustainability of high-quality standards. As the announcement states, “This approach allows you to stay ahead of the curve, experimenting with the latest AI models while we ensure they meet quality standards.”
GPT-5.1 is Here!
Microsoft’s integration of GPT-5.1 indicates OpenAI’s advancement in the AI race with an all-new model series. The new models, GPT-5.1 Instant and GPT-5.1 Thinking will offer a customized experience to ChatGPT users. Though it is available for paid users as of now, an extended rollout will be observed in the coming months.
The key features to check out are the ‘warmer, more intelligent, and better’ capabilities to understand and process user instructions. Furthermore, the personality feature offers additional customization options. Alongside existing personality options of Default, Friendly, and Efficient, OpenAI is adding options for Professional, Candid, and Quirky. These personality options are accessible across all ChatGPT models.
